Abstract:
This data set consists of a set of 133 TIF files representing a hillshade model for the state of Arizona. Most files cover a half degree block and as a collection they cover the entire State of Arizona. The data were created by processing U.S.Geological Survey 10 meter Digital Elevation Model files for all of the 7.5 minute quadrangle map areas in Arizona. The processing produced ESRI formatted lattice files for each quadrangle. These were then merged into the half degree blocks. The lattice blocks were then processed through a hillshade model in ARC/INFO to produce hillshade TIF files. A .dbf file is available for the hillshade TIFs for use in producing an ESRI formatted image catalog of the hillshade files.
Purpose:
The data are created to serve as base information for use in GIS systems for a variety of planning and analysis purposes. These data do not represent a legal record.
Supplemental_Information:
The bounding coordinates shown in this metadata file represent a sample half degree TIF file, in this case the tile named "FLAGE" (Flagstaff, East). Each TIF file in the collection will have its own unique set of bounding coordinates. Transfer file size will also vary per TIF file. All other characteristics in this metadata file apply to all of the TIF files in the collection

The data were processed by creating ESRI lattice files from all of the 7.5 minute U.S. Geological Survey Digital Elevation Model files for Arizona utilizing ARC/INFO. The data were then merged into 135 half degree blocks which represent the Arizona Land Resources Information System (ALRIS) tiles. A hillshade alrgorithm in ARC/INFO was then used to produce the hillshaded TIF format files.
